Shipping
Where we ship, what it costs, how long a piece takes to reach you, and what to check before you sign for it.
Every piece is made or packed by hand in the workshop, then handed to a carrier. This page states what that means for cost, timing and the moment the pallet arrives at your door.
Where we ship
Checkout accepts delivery addresses in these 23 countries:
Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
If your country is not on that list, the checkout will not let you complete the order. Write to team@molotovatelier.com before you order and we will tell you whether we can quote a carrier for it.
Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom sit outside the EU customs and VAT area. Orders to those three can attract import VAT, customs duty and a carrier handling fee on arrival. Those charges are set by the destination country, not by us, they are not included in the price you pay at checkout, and they are the buyer's to settle. Orders inside the EU carry no import charges.
What shipping costs
| Order subtotal | Shipping |
|---|---|
| Under 1 000 euro | 38 euro |
| 1 000 euro and over | Free |
One flat rate per order, not per piece, and it is the same to every country on the list. The subtotal is the value of the pieces before shipping. Checkout shows the figure before you pay.
How long it takes
Two things happen in sequence, and the total is the sum of both.
- In the workshop. A piece listed as in stock leaves within about a week, because it still has to be checked, wrapped and palletised. A made to order piece takes three to five weeks, most of which is curing time that will not be hurried: powder coat, clear coat over the sprayed art and, on concrete, the sealer.
- In transit. Freight across the shipping area usually runs five to twenty one working days from the moment the carrier collects. The spread is wide because a pallet to Tallinn and a pallet to Lisbon are not the same journey.
You get an email when the piece leaves the workshop. If anything slips, we write to you rather than letting the date pass in silence.
How a heavy piece is delivered
Anything over about twenty kilos travels on a pallet with a freight carrier, not with a parcel courier. That changes what you should expect:
- The carrier calls or messages to agree a delivery window. Someone has to be there.
- Standard freight delivery is kerbside. The driver brings the pallet to the entrance of the building, not up a staircase and not into the room.
- A pallet needs a clear path from the vehicle. Narrow lanes, bollards and courtyards without vehicle access all cause a failed delivery, and a second attempt is chargeable by the carrier.
- Measure your door, lift and stairwell before you order. Our doorway and stairwell guide shows how, and moving concrete furniture covers getting a heavy piece the last few metres.
What to check before you sign
The carrier's delivery note is the document that matters. Once it is signed clean, the carrier's position is that the goods arrived undamaged, and that makes a claim slower for everyone.
- Look at the packaging before the driver leaves. Crushed corners, a torn wrap, a tilted or broken pallet are all worth noting.
- If anything looks wrong, write what you see on the delivery note before you sign. "Packaging damaged, goods unchecked" is enough.
- Photograph the pallet as it stands, wrapped, before you open it.
- Unwrap and check the piece the same day where you can.
If a piece arrives damaged
Write to team@molotovatelier.com with your order number and photographs of both the packaging and the piece, as soon as you find it and in any case within a few days of delivery. Keep the packaging until the claim is settled, because the carrier can ask to inspect it.
Damage in transit is ours to resolve, not yours to absorb. Depending on the piece and on what the damage is, that means a repair, a replacement where the piece can be remade, or a refund. A one off piece cannot be replaced with an identical one, which is covered in why a piece exists once.
This is separate from changing your mind. For that, see returns and the right of withdrawal.
Collection
If you are near the workshop and would rather collect, write before you order and we will arrange it. Checkout does not offer collection as an option.
